Tyler Simmons is a 2020 1B/LHP with a 6-2 190 lb. frame from Hemet, CA who attends West Valley. Outstanding athletic build with good present strength and room for more. 7.41 runner, has very athletic actions at first base, soft and smooth hands, gets rid of the ball quickly and makes accurate throws. Left handed hitter, hits from a narrow open stance with a low leg lift timing load, has strength in his swing, pull side power approach, has the ability to make the ball jump but will have to make adjustments to increase his contact ability. Also pitched, drop and drive mechanics with some energy at release. Fastball topped out at 81 mph, works low in the zone and has some deception, ball gets on hitters quickly. Mixed in both a short slider and soft curveball. Good athlete who can keep improving. Good student.
