Xavier Kitchens is a 2021 2B/SS, OF with a 5-5 125 lb. frame from Santa Fe, NM who attends Pojoaque. Compact frame with a lean build. Frame projects to add strength with continued physical maturity. Primary second baseman, showed balanced footwork while some range to each side. Funnels baseball of to side and worked through exchange with developing fluidity. Released from an compact arm action creating softer carry across the infield. Right handed hitter with a narrow, closed stance. Works to contact with rotational lower half actions. Loose, extended hand path to contact with a level, line drive barrel plane. Developing bat speed through the zone, created best contact on a line to the middle of the field between the gaps. Also pitched utilizing a clean, in line delivery to the plate. Released from a low three-quarters arm slot producing slight sink in the low 60's. Curveball showed 11/5 shape with looser spin and occasional depth in the mid 50's. Consistently looked to fill the bottom of the zone and induce weak contact. Excellent student.
