Chase Barrera is a 2007 second baseman from Baytown, TX with a lean athletic build at 5'9", 145 pounds. He hits from a slightly open stance with a high leg kick trigger and a high one handed finish. He has a line drive swing plane with a contact approach. He is a leadoff type hitter that punches shots and gets out of the box quickly. He showed good athleticism with a 7.22 in the 60, and a 4.58 home to first. Defensively, he has a good glove with quick hands and he attacks the ball. He has an easy, loose arm action and makes good accurate throws. He has smooth actions and moves well in all directions. Chase is a solid infielder and he will be a top prospect for 2007.
