JJ McLaughlin is a 2026 SS/RHP/2B with a 5-6 135 lb. frame from Glendora, NJ who attends Bishop Eustace Prep. Compact, high waisted frame with plenty of time and room to physically mature. Recorded a 7.88 second sixty-yard dash time. Primary shortstop with deliberate footwork throughout the fielding process. Funnels cleanly out in-front, displayed soft hands and lateral range to either side. Makes the routine, routine and flashed some athleticism up the middle. Recorded arm strength up to 80 mph across the diamond during drills. Secondary right-handed pitcher that worked from a rhythmic abbreviated windup with a slightly coiled leg lift into balance and medium stride length out to foot strike. Proficient strike thrower with the ability to sequence his two-pitch mix effectively. Fastball worked in the low-to- mid 70s for the majority of his outing, sinks it to the lower portion of the strike zone and showed the aptitude to expand up in the zone when ahead in the count. Displayed exceptional feel for spin with the ability to manipulate speed and shape to his breaking ball, while adding more vertical and horizontal tilt to it. Will continue to improve with minor refinements and additional velocity. Right-handed hitter that hits from a wider, slightly open stance with a high, tight hand set and big leg lift trigger. Intent based stroke with good separation into contact and looseness to his hands. Developing feel for the barrel and best impact was to the middle and pull sides of the field, will continue to improve with additional strength and minor mechanical adjustments. Fundamentally sound prospect with plenty of physical maturity remaining. Good Student.
