David Simmons is a 2023 C/RHP, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, IF, OF with a 5-8 161 lb. frame from Atlanta, GA who attends Northview. Medium frame with strength present especially in his lower half. Ran a 7.83 second 60 yard dash. Primary catcher, worked out behind the dish with a side saddle stance and high gather, receives out in front with two hands, long take back with young footwork into throws, developing arm strength down to second. Secondary right-handed pitcher, delivery starts with a belt high leg lift, takes his arm back to a full arm action up to a high ¾ arm slot, fastball topped out at 71 mph, will need to add an offspeed pitch to his repertoire for added effectiveness. Also worked out in the infield showing playable actions especially at a corner position, smooth glove with a feel for a funnel. Right-handed hitter, sets up with an open stance, leg lift trigger into contact, active load especially with hands, all fields approach on a line, will improve pop off of the barrel with adjustments to lower half involvement.
