Luke Westerman is a 2022 1B/OF with a 6-1 205 lb. frame from Nashville, TN who attends David Lipscomb Campus. Large, broad shouldered build with present strength to frame, strong lower half with longer limbs. Ran an 8.12 60-yard dash. Primary first baseman, fields the ball out front, some bend at waist, funnels into a full arm action through the back, shortens arm at release, accurate throws to intended base with arm strength and carry that will continue to develop, takes short steps off the bag, tall target for infielders to throw across to. Righthanded hitter, begins with a wide and open stance and a high hand set and higher back elbow at the plate. Upper body dominant swing, gets closed moving into contact with lower half. Hits off front side, shows a short path to the ball and through the zone, looks to elevate at point of contact. Hands stay inside the baseball, creates contact out front, can continue to incorporate additional lower half into shift to unlock more strength. Excellent student.
