Chris Martin is a 2007 3B/SS/OF/P with a 5'11'', 185 lb. frame from Phenix City AL, who attends Smiths Station HS. He has a medium athletic frame and some present strength. Martin has a nice balance of tools across the board. He's a primary third baseman with plus arm strength across the diamond. Martin moves through the ball well with balance and had middle infield type actions should someone need him to play that part of the field. He's a 7.09 runner who showed very advanced base running instincts and was able to consistently steal or take the extra base. At the plate, Martin has a line drive swing with very quick, strong hands. He waits back on the ball very well for a young hitter, stays coiled and balanced and had a very high percentage of solid, line drive contacts. He'll occasionally loop his hands under balls, which might be the beginning of some developing power. Martin is a very good student who should have his choice of any number of good baseball schools in the South.
