2019 PG Northeast Top Prospect Games
Richard Lu is a 2021 RHP/OF with a 6-0 165 lb. frame from Grand Rapids, MI who attends Forest Hills Northern. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and present strength to frame, additional room to fill. Good athlete, ran a 6.80 60-yard dash. Primary righthanded pitcher, loads onto back hip well and comes down the mound, short stride down the mound with slight cross-body release. Longer and smooth arm action working to a three-quarters release point, generates nice life to arm side while sinking fastball up to 86 mph early in outing. Present arm speed, maintains on breaking ball and lands for strikes with occasional sweeping finish up to 72 mph. Showed arm strength from the outfield too, smooth actions to the ball with an extra step through release, some effort out of hand with accuracy to intended base. Righthanded hitter, begins with an even stance and loads hands back at start of swing; quick barrel and does a nice job of creating separation out front. Generates nice present bats peed through the zone, natural feel for the barrel and works the middle and pull side parts of the field with comfort, steady line drive contact coming off with looseness to hands. Nice two-way potential. Excellent student. Named to the Northeast Top Prospect Games Top Prospect List.
