David Ulrich is a 2008 LHP with a 6'3'', 185 lb. frame from Summit NJ, who attends Newark Academy. He has a lanky build with long arms and legs but lacks much present strength. Ulrich has very unusual pitching mechanics. He double pumps his ball hand in and out of his glove during his delivery and leads to the plate with his glove elbow. Ulrich also throws across his body on release to add a bit more deception to his delivery. His fastball was 66-70 mph. Ulrich's out pitch was a big breaking slow 59 mph curveball that he threw for strikes at any time in the count. Ulrich's unusual mechanics, slow stuff and ability to spot the ball will get a lot of hitters out. He is also a very good student.
