Andrew Ortiz is a 2020 2B/SS with a 5-4 135 lb. frame from Bridgeview, IL who attends Nazareth Academy. Compact frame with a lean build. Frame with continue to add strength with physical maturity. Primary second baseman, stays low while traveling to and working through the baseball. Flashed some range to each side and showed solid glove actions while funneling. Clean actions while working through transition and generating softer carry across the infield at 67 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with a rotational swing. Flashed some hand speed while working to contact and utilized a linear barrel plane. Shows developing feel for the barrel while utilizing a mid field approach. Will continue to add jump off the barrel with future physical development. Very good student as well.
