Sebastian Bentz is a 2020 LHP/1B with a 6-3 202 lb. frame from Weston, FL who attends ESB Academy. Large, athletic frame with broad shoulders and present physical strength proportioned well throughout frame. Primary lefthanded pitcher, begins delivery with a high leg lift up past belt; gathers on backside and drives down the mound while working exclusively out of the stretch. Full and on line arm action through the back working to an over-the-top release point; gets on top of the ball and generates plane on fastball up to 83 mph. Occasional cut action to fastball; repeats delivery and mixed a 12-6 curveball up to 68 mph. Slider more advanced of two breaking balls, short cut action, mixed a straight changeup with maintained release up to 76 mph. Didn't throw during drills at first base but took reps, fields the ball out front and funnels well, takes longer strides off the bag moving towards the ball. Lefthanded hitter, begins with a wide base and a high hand set and back elbow in the box. Looks to pull the ball at point of contact with a short swing and finish through the ball. Generates some separation out front with lift and incorporates strength well showing carry when squared. Excellent student.
