Lane Johnson is a 2021 OF/RHP with a 5-11 135 lb. frame from Pacific Palisades, CA who attends Loyola. Medium frame with a compact, lean build. Projects for additional strength with continued physical maturity. Primary outfielder with aggressive footwork while closing to and working through the baseball. Funnels the baseball out front and worked through exchange efficiently. Long arm circle at separation and released from a high three-quarters arm slot. Throws produced uphill carry to the bag topping at 78 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with a slightly crouched, open stance and simple front side trigger. Created some linear shift into contact with lower half. Loose path to contact and flashed some hand quickness on a slightly lifted plane to finish. Utilized a mid field approach but flashed the barrel quickness to work to pull side as well when on time. Also pitched utilizing a balanced, on line delivery. Lands slightly closed on front side creating some cross fire while releasing from a three-quarters slot. Fastball featured occasional run to arm side in the low 70's, topped at 73 miles per hour. Curveball showed developing spin with occasional depth to the bottom of the zone in the low 60's. Showed best command of the zone when staying in tempo and repeated arm action through finish. Tools will continue to develop with maturity and repetition.
