Matthew Costopoulos is a 2020 2B/ with a 5-11 175 lb. frame from Manhattan Beach, CA who attends Loyola. Medium, athletic build. Good speed, ran a 7.01 second sixty-yard dash. Has a strong arm in the infield up to 79 miles per hour with developing accuracy across the diamond. Good actions and approach to the ball with some developing footwork and range. Approaches the ball well in the outfield with good gather and quick release. Strong throws in the outfield up to 85 miles per hour, creating good backspin and carry to bases. Has a balanced and even stance at the plate, with a toe tap trigger and rotational lower half. Stays balanced throughout the swing with quick hands to contact and a slightly lifted barrel plane through extension. Has a line drive approach to the middle of the field and flashes good bat speed when turning the barrel and working to the pull side. Secondary pitcher, throws across his body with a mid three-quarters slot to create some natural run on the fastball up to 81 miles per hour. Uses present athleticism to create good direction down the mound and good extension over front side. The arm side run to the fastball forced a lot of soft contact. Good student.
