Clayton Ray is a 2019 LHP/OF with a 6-0 178 lb. frame from Santa Cruz, CA who attends Santa Cruz HS. Medium athletic build with some present strength. Slow paced under control delivery, compact high 3/4's arm slot from a long arm action with an early takeaway, has a loose and whippy arm coming through, tends to fall off to the third base side on release. Fastball topped out at 85 mph, lots of late running action, showed the ability to work both sides of the plate with his fastball. Big slow curveball is not tight but is effective due to speed differential and ability to land it for strikes. Rare change up has some sink and can be developed with further use. Holds runners well and can field his position. Good student.
