Brian Knapp is a 2007 C/P from American Heritage HS in Boca Raton, FL, with a 5'10'', 175 lb. frame. He has some lean present strength. Knapp has good arm strength and a consistent release on his throws. His pop times will improve when he moves towards second base on his throws instead of popping straight up. Knapp did make his best and quickest throws in the games rather than in drills. At the plate Knapp has a balanced line drive swing and some bat speed. He squares up very well on the ball in all parts of the zone and makes solid line drive contact. Knapp keeps his swing short and to the ball and has a high average approach that will serve him well in the future. Knapp also pitched a few innings and showed good ability as a secondary pitcher. He has good mechanics and a quick paced delivery. His fastball was steady at 80-81 mph and he did a nice job of locating the ball. Knapp's offspeed pitch was a 68 mph curveball that had fair spin that will improve when Knapp doesn't slow down his body on his curveball delivery. Knapp is also an excellent student.
