Ryan Purgar is a 2020 C/OF with a 5-8 140 lb. frame from Saylorsburg, PA who attends Pleasant Valley. Medium frame with a lean build. Frame projects to support additional strength. Primary catcher with a low, even stance while receiving the baseball. Gains some ground while working out of crouch and carries momentum to glove side at release. Clean, compact exchanges and released from a three-quarters slot. Throws generated some on line carry to the bag at 65 miles per hour, best workout pop time of 2.14. Also worked out defensively from the outfield showing smooth paced, deliberate footwork while closing to the baseball. Funnels to side and worked through exchange with loose actions. Created occasional on line carry while releasing from a three-quarters arm slot, topped at 70 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with a crouched, slightly open stance and reaching front side trigger. Worked to contact with rotational lower half actions. Loose hand path to baseball with a level, line drive barrel plane through extension. Utilized a mid field approach and flashed good feel for the barrel while working between the gaps. Good student as well.
