Conner Hatz is a 2019 C/1B/3B with a 5-11 185 lb. frame from Aliso Viejo, CA who attends Sage Hill HS. Medium, athletic frame with broad shoulders and present strength proportioned throughout frame. Ran a 7.55 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, compact set up behind the plate, receives the ball out front and works into a shorter arm action in the back, gets tall out of crouch and can continue to incorporate additional lower half into gaining ground, some effort at release but shows accuracy on throws down to second base. Also pitched, side step moving into delivery and gets tall on backside with some gather during leg lift. On line arm action through the back working to an over-the-top release point; gets on top of fastball well, topped out at 78 mph, mostly true in life. Curveball shows 12-6 shape, developing consistent feel for the pitch. Righthanded hitter, begins with a wide base and a high hand set and back elbow at the plate; loads hands back at start and utilizes a quick trigger with front foot. Shows a full swing path through the zone with looseness to hands, stays inside and creates leverage at point of contact. Works the middle of the field and creates extension, shows strength to hands and some fluidity through the zone. Very good student.
