Matthew Welsh is a 2007 RHP/1B with a 6'6'', 200 lb. frame from Princeton NJ, who attends Hun School. Welsh has a big frame with wide shoulders. He has long legs and a very projectable body. Welsh pitches from a 3/4 arm slot with a long arm action. His arm works well and his arm action in nice and easy. He uses a tall and fall delivery with an online finish. Welsh has a slow controlled delivery and maintains good balance throughout. His delivery is smooth and he pitches on a good downhill plane. He throws his curveball at 73 mph with good spin and downward action on it. His change-up gets good armside run and sink on it. Welch has solid command of all three pitches and was around the plate at this event. He pitches with average effort. Welsh is a good student and has high level academic aspirations.
