2020 National Indoor Showcase (Saturday)
Cole Askew is a 2021 IF/RHP/OF with a 5-9 170 lb. frame from Topeka, KS who attends Seaman. Athletic build with good present strength. Right handed hitter, hits from a wide base with a very aggressive swing approach, looks to impact and drive the ball, stays pretty short and direct to contact, will drop his back side and look to lift at times, solid overall bat speed. 7.27 runner in the sixty, plays both the infield and outfield with athleticism and quickness, showed arm strength at both positions, primary infielder but graded out higher in the outfield at this event. Also took a turn on the mound, short and compact arm action from a high 3/4's arm slot. Mid-80's fastball, topped out at 86 mph with some natural cutting action glove side. Showed nice feel for an upper 70's slider with some depth and bite, landed it for strikes consistently. Nice all around athlete with an aggressive high energy approach to the game. Good student. Named to the National Indoor Showcase Top Prospect Team.
