Michael Lewis is a 2023 RHP/OF with a 6-0 170 lb. frame from Glen Allen, VA who attends Steward. Larger frame with an athletic build. Frame projects to support additional strength. Primary right handed pitcher with a side step delivery. Stays balanced at gather and utilized lower half well while driving to the plate. Clean arm circle at take back and released from a three-quarters slot. Fastball generated good downward tilt in the mid to upper 70's, topped at 80 mph. Fastball also showed natural cutting action with occasional sink. Curveball had 10/5 shape with solid spin and good depth in the upper 60's. Consistently challenged the zone with effectively changing speeds. Also worked out defensively from the outfield showing smooth paced footwork while closing to the baseball. Clean glove actions at pick up and worked through exchange efficiently. Stays on line at release generating some on line carry to the bag at 82 mph. Right handed hitter with a spread, balanced stance and toe tap trigger. Worked to contact with rotational lower half actions. Looser hand path to contact with a slightly lifted barrel plane through extension. Showed present bat speed and strength when squared with the ability to split the gaps. Good student as well.
