Collin Rothermel is a 2021 RHP/C/IF with a 5-10 135 lb. frame from San Diego, CA who attends Rancho Bernardo HS. Medium frame with a young, lean build. Frame projects to support additional strength with continued physical maturity. Primary right handed hitter with a simple rock step to medium leg lift delivery. Stays balanced at gather with a loose arm circle at take back. Released from a low three-quarters arm slot and generated some run back to arm side with sink in the low to mid 70's, topped at 75 miles per hour. Breaking ball flashed varying shape with looser spin and some tilt in the low 60's. Displayed developing feel for both fastball and curveball at the bottom of the zone. Also worked out defensively from the infield showing smooth paced footwork while surrounding the baseball. Funnels underneath and worked through exchange efficiently. Released from a low three-quarters arm slot topping at 72 miles per hour across the infield. Right handed hitter with an upright, open stance and hanging front side trigger. Shifts into contact with linear lower half actions. Deeper hand load and worked to contact on a direct path. Clean, slightly lifted barrel plane through extension. Swung with intent and generated solid bat speed when on time and squared. Primarily worked to the middle of the field with the intent to create lift between the gaps. Good student as well.
