Santiago Sandoval is a 2019 OF/LHP with a 5-8 155 lb. frame from Amarillo, TX who attends Tascosa. Medium frame with a lean build. Frame projects to support additional strength. Primary outfielder with aggressive footwork while closing to and working through the baseball. Reads hops well and maintains momentum through exchange. Released from a three-quarters slot creating uphill carry to the bag at 76 miles per hour. Left handed hitter with an upright, open stance and simple front side trigger. Worked to contact with rotational lower half actions. Simple, repeatable hand path to baseball with a line drive barrel plane through extension. Flashed good feel for the barrel with the ability to work to all fields when balanced. Also pitched utilizing a side step to medium leg lift delivery. Created slightly coil at gather and worked to the plate with drop and drive actions. Released from a three-quarters slot generating some downhill plane with natural cut in the mid 70's, topped at 76 miles per hour. Tends to land at a slightly closed position creating some crossfire at times. Curveball had 2/7 shape with solid spin and solid depth in the mid 60's. Displayed good feel for the zone and consistently landed each pitch for strikes. Outstanding student.
