Garrett Nuss is a 2019 RHP/ with a 6-6 220 lb. frame from Sutton, NE who attends Sutton Secondary. Large frame with broad shoulders, long limbs and wiry strength. Primary right handed pitcher with a simple rock step to medium leg lift delivery. Stays tall on back side with slight coil over back leg. Works to the plate with drop and drive lower half actions. Long, loose arm circle at take back and released from a high three-quarters arm slot. Fastball flashed some downhill plane through the zone sitting in the upper 70's, topped at 80 miles per hour. Curveball had 11/5 shape with looser spin and occasional depth in the mid 60's. Tends to slow arm speed slightly with changeup flashing some life to arm side in the low 70's. Consistently changed speed while on the mound and effectively kept hitter off balance with breaking pitches. Also worked out defensively from first base showing deliberate footwork while centering the baseball. Flashed some range while moving off the bag. Develop fluidity while funneling and working through exchange. Released from a three-quarters slot producing on line carry to the bag, topped at 70 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with a slightly crouched, even stance and simple leg lift trigger. Works to contact with rotational lower half actions. Loose, extended path to baseball with a line drive plane through extension. Looked to work the baseball to the middle of the field with a line drive approach and flashed occasional strength when on time and squared. Excellent student as well.
