Luke Mastromatteo is a 2019 RHP/3B with a 5-10 175 lb. frame from Galesburg, MI who attends Gull Lake HS. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and present strength to frame, additional room to fill moving forward. Primary righthanded pitcher, begins with a quick side step moving into delivery with leg lift up to belt; short arm action through the back while working to a high three-quarters release point. Stays on line towards the plate and remains on time at release; filled the strike zone and worked heavily off of fastball. Throws easy, topped out at 78 mph and able to induce weak contact, projects for more velocity with additional drive from lower half. Flashed curveball at 66 mph, developing feel for the pitch. Sound mechanics in the infield and repeats, fields the ball out front, short steps moving towards the ball, gets on top of throws. Righthanded hitter, begins with a wide base and a high hand set at the plate. Shifts weight well through lower half and remains short through the zone with swing path. Shows bat speed with feel for the barrel, worked the middle of the field well with line drive and remained consistent, stays behind the ball and shows a sound approach. Good student.
