Erik Tovar is a 2020 RHP/OF with a 6-2 175 lb. frame from Weston, FL who attends Cypress Bay. Tall and skinny frame with long limbs and room to fill. Ran a 7.85 second 60 yard dash. Primary righthanded pitcher, starts windup with a side step up to a high leg lift, full arm action up to a high ¾ slot, stays online down the mound with weight carried toward the first base side but does not effect his command, stays tall on backside at balance point leading with his hip down the mound using lower half nicely, high effort at release, could get more extension out in front. Fastball has riding sink to it up to 79 mph, 12-to-6 curveball with developing spin, mixed in a changeup with potential that has heavy fading action and maintained fastball arm speed. Secondary outfielder, fields the ball out in front with nimble footwork, full arm stroke into release with similar arm strength as on the mound. Righthanded hitter, wide base with a high hand set and a high back elbow to start, hitches at load, multiple checkpoints in swing with an inside hand path to the ball. Great student.
