Tony Diaz is a 2018 OF/MIF with a 5-11 165 lb. frame from Point Richmond, CA who attends Salesian College Preparatory. Medium frame with a lean, athletic build. Frame projects to support additional size with strength. Ran a 7.17 sixty-yard dash. Primary outfielder with smooth paced, clean footwork while closing to the baseball. Clean glove actions while funneling the baseball with fluid glove to hand exchanges. Created good momentum to the bag and released from a three-quarter arm slot. Topped at 80 miles per hour producing accurate, on line carry to the bag. Right handed hitter with a crouched, slightly closed stance and quick front side trigger. Generated good hip torque to contact with rotational lower half actions. Swung with intent and created good bat speed on a slightly lifted plane through extension. Primarily drove the ball between the gaps the flashed the hand quickness to turn barrel head to contact and works to pull side with authority when squared. Very good student as well.
