Christian Powell is a 2019 C with a 5-9 170 lb. frame from Middleburg, FL who attends Middleburg HS. Medium build with broad shoulders and physically mature frame but still more room to fill. Ran a 7.48 second 60 yard dash. Primary catcher, shows smooth footwork behind the plate with nimble actions, receives the baseball well, clean transfer from glove to hand with a long exchange and release, throws uphill to the second base bag, average arm strength with accuracy to the bag, 2.06 second best pop. Righthanded hitter, even stance with a good stride, uses lower half with good weight transfer into the point of contact, inside hand path, would like to see more looseness to hands into swing, rotational swing looking to pull for power, above average bat speed with tilt to barrel, mostly line drive pull contact during round. Excellent student.
