Michael Wyrick is a 2008 LHP/OF with a 6'1'', 180 lb. frame from Los Banos CA, who attends Los Banos HS. He has a chance to develop into one of the top college bound lefties in Northern CA,particularly if he gains command. Wyrick has a strong and athletic body that should keep him and his arm pretty fresh. He has a strong and quick arm, but does throw with some effort, so maintaining a sound delivery will be a key for him, and not only for throwing quality strikes. His fastball is pretty seaky and has sliding/drifting movement away from RH hitters, enough to start their bats and force weak contact. The longer Wyrick was able to hold the ball, the better his curveball was. There were times he threw the curveball effectively below bats, making it a potential out pitch. His change is a solid pitch for the college level. A jump into the mid-upper 80s could be in his future with a more refined delivery, which will also give his pitches more action with the additional extension he can gain.
