Evan Shaw is a 2019 LHP/1B, OF with a 6-3 178 lb. frame from Fridley, MN who attends Fridley. Long lanky athletic build. Ran a 6.99 second sixty-yard dash. Utilizes a small side step to high leg lift staying tall at gather going to drop and drive actions down the mound landing inline with the plate and falling off slightly to the third base side at finish. Extra athletic delivery. Features a whippy arm action with good arm speed throwing from a low three quarter slot. Employs a fastball with a downhill plane topping out at 82 miles per hour complemented by a sharp 2-9 curveball at 69 miles per hour. Showed aggressive actions closing to the ball at first base with clean out front funnels and transfers into throws. Displayed clean footwork around the bag with good arm strength topping out at 83 miles per hour. In the outfield flashed aggressive athletic closing actions while fielding low and to the side of the baseball. Displayed a compact arm action with good arm strength topping out at 87 miles per hour from the outfield. Left handed hitter. Employs a wide stance with a leg lift trigger and high back elbow and hand set up,. Gets on plane early with clean weight shifts. Very repeateable swing with consistent line drive contact and flashes of gap to gap power. Showed the ability to create consistent solid line drives throughout batting practice and games.
