Ian Benner is a 2020 RHP/SS with a 6-2 165 lb. frame from Forsyth, IL who attends Maroa-Forsyth HS. Medium frame with slender, athletic present build; projects well physically. Ran 60 yard dash in 7.23 seconds. Primary righthanded pitcher. Long, lengthy arm stroke through the back with slight wrap up to high three quarters slot release; generates solid extension through release. Crossbody delivery with slight open-toe landing. Pulls frontside through. Fastball worked 71-75 mph with natural cutting action due to yanking across at release. Showed curveball with 11/5 shape and good depth. Did well to locate north-south with fastball. Sets up to hit from slightly open stance with small hand load and leg lift trigger. Shows quickness to hands whipping barrel through, generates extension through swing, engages lower half well and shows solid line drive jump off the barrel to the pull field when squared up. Good student.
