Chance Whitfield is a 2023 SS/RHP with a 5-1 107 lb. frame from McDonough, GA who attends Union Grove. Young, square shouldered frame with a lean and projectable build, has room to grow and fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 7.72 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, fields the ball out front with a wide base, can continue to implement additional footwork to attack the ball, accurate throws across the diamond, young actions with arm strength that will continue to develop. Also pitched, short turn step moving into a high leg lift; loose arm action through the backside working to a high three-quarters release point. Stays balanced and strides on line, clean delivery and projects with additional lower half; fastball topped out at 69 mph and mixed a 12-6 shaped curveball and showed a feel for the pitch. Righthanded hitter, begins with an open stance and and medium hand set; utilizes a leg lift trigger for timing at the plate. Employs a contact oriented approach, gets to front side early at times with weight shift, best contact when working on a linear plane. Aggressive to the ball and shows comfort working to the middle if the field while finding the barrel. Good student.
