Nicholas Elkins is a 2019 OF/LHP with a 5-9 160 lb. frame from Boise, ID who attends Timberline HS. Medium frame with a lean, athletic build. Frame projects for additional strength while maintaining athleticism. Ran a 7.37 sixty-yard dash. Primary outfielder with smooth paced, deliberate footwork while closing to the baseball. Clean glove actions while funneling and worked through exchange well. Released from a three-quarters arm slot producing uphill carry out of hand topping at 71 miles per hour. Left handed hitter with a smooth, repeatable swing plane. Consistently squared up contact throughout batting practice showing some bat speed at contact. Controls the barrel well throughout the zone driving the baseball to all fields. Also pitched showing a simple rock step to medium leg lift delivery. Stays balanced on back side at gather and works to the plate with drop and drive actions. Lands in line with the plate and carries momentum to target. Long arm circle at take back and released from a high three-quarters slot. Located fastball down in the zone well showing occasional sink in the upper 60's. Curveball had 1/7 shape with loose spin and occasional depth. Flashed sharper break when staying on top of offering at extension. Consistently changed speed and effectively kept hitters off balance. Very good student as well.
