Carter Jones is a 2019 LHP/1B with a 6-1 180 lb. frame from Overland Park, KS who attends Shawnee Mission East. Large frame with long limbs and wiry strength. Frame projects to support additional strength. Primary left handed pitcher with a smooth paced side step to leg lift delivery. Stays balanced with slight coil on back side and works to the plate with drop and drive actions. Tends to land at a slightly open position on front side. Deep arm circle at take back and released from a high three-quarters slot. Fastball produced solid downhill tilt to the plate with some run to arm side in the low to mid 70's, topped at 75 miles per hour. Curveball had 2/8 shape with good spin and solid depth. Also flashed a slider with 3/9 shape that had good sweep to glove side in the low 70's. Maintained arm speed with a changeup offering that featured some fade to arm side in the upper 60's. Consistently repeated delivery that allowed for solid command to the bottom of the strike zone. Left handed hitter with an upright, open stance and high back elbow set. Created some linear shift into contact with lower half. Created shoulder tilt at load and utilized an uphill barrel plane through extension. Primarily looked to generated lift at contact and drive the baseball to the middle of the field. Excellent student.
