Charlie Hafer is a 2020 OF/RHP, C, 1B with a 6-1 205 lb. frame from Abingdon, MD who attends John Carroll. Large, broad shouldered build with present physical strength proportioned throughout frame. Primary outfielder, fields the ball out front and funnels into a full arm action, takes short steps moving towards the ball, low slot on throws and occasionally opens front side early, worked around the intended base well with throws. Also caught, receives the ball out front and gets it out of glove, long arm stroke through the back, tall at release but gains short ground, actions will continue to refine. Righthanded hitter, begins with a wide base and a high hand set and back elbow in the box; utilizes a toe tap trigger for timing in the box. Upper body dominant swing, shows a full swing path and incorporates strength in hands well at point of contact. Occasionally gets to front side early with weight shift, shows lift out front when extended and comfort working to the middle and pull side parts of the field. Very good student.
