Yi-Wei Hung is a 2017 SS with a 5-6 145 lb. frame from Taichung City, TG. Compact frame with a lean, athletic build. Frame projects for additional strength. Ran a 7.16 sixty-yard dash. Primary shortstop smooth paced, deliberate footwork while ranging to and surrounding the baseball. Flashed solid, athletic glove actions while funneling the baseball out front with clean glove to hand exchanges while working through transfer. Released with a smooth arm stroke creating accurate carry across the infield. Also worked out defensively from the outfield, tentative footwork while closing to the baseball with developing glove actions and feel while working through transition. Released from a compact arm action that produced some on line carry to the bag topping at 75 miles per hour. Higher ceiling as an outfield prospect at this time. Switch hitter with a crouched, slightly open stance and a toe tap trigger from each side of the plate. Shows a lower hand slot pre swing prior to load to a deep, slightly barred position. Barrel comes through the hitting zone on a level plane creating occasional line drive contact to the middle of the field. Tends to alter barrel path but flashed some bat speed and jump off the barrel from the left side of the plate when on time and squared.
