Avery McGinnis is a 2020 LHP/1B with a 6-5 185 lb. frame from Seattle, WA who attends Ballard. Tall, long frame with wiry strength. Frame projects for additional strength. Primary left handed pitcher who worked exclusively from the stretch. Large leg lift to gather with slight coil over back side. Utilized lower half well while and lands on line with target. Loose, fluid arm circle at take back and released from a high three-quarters arm slot. Fastball generated good downhill tilt through the zone in the upper 70's to low 80's, topped at 83 mph. Showed two plane with breaking ball. Slider flashed occasional sweep to glove side in the low 70's. Curveball showed tighter 1/7 shape with good depth in the mid 60's. Also displayed a fading changeup in the upper 60's. Consistently located changeup to outer edges of the zone and effectively kept hitter off balance. Good student as well.
