Angel Ruiz Jr is a 2017 OF with a 6-1 198 lb. frame from West Covina, CA who attends West Covina HS. Large frame with strong, physical present build; some projection remaining as well. Ran 60 yard dash in 7.07 seconds. Sets up to hit from wide-based, open stance with high hand set. Loads hands deep, gets on positively-launched swing plane, generates lift well, shows good strength in swing allowing him to drive the ball into the air with solid power potential, with consistency. Worked out defensively in the outfield, closes well on the ball with efficient footwork, fields cleanly and is able to work through the ball with momentum. Gets off clean release on throws with good accuracy, clocked up to 84 MPH. Named to 2016 West Uncommitted Showcase Top Prospect List. Good student.
