Nate Downey is a 2026 SS/RHP/C with a 5-11 170 lb. frame from Fort Pierce, FL who attends John Carroll Catholic. Medium athletic high waisted body with some present strength and more to come. Primary shortstop on defense who also catches and pitches. Arm strength is his best defensive tool, makes accurate throws with good carry, clean hands with a good funnel, third base actions on the dirt. Has thrown 95 mph from the outfield and 81 mph catching at previous PG showcases to further show his arm. Left handed hitter, sets up in a spread and open stance with an inward to tap load, stays behind the ball well and strength plays to the pull side, present bat speed with more to come. Works from a low paced delivery on the mound with coil over the rubber, arm is loose and clean coming through. Fastball topped out at 85 mph with some running life, will also cut his fastball at times and get off barrels. Slider and change up were solid secondary pitches for him, both created some swing and miss. Has an idea on the mound and good pitchability. Very versatile player who could end up almost anywhere on the field as he matures physically. Good student. Named to the PG National Uncommitted Showcase Top Prospect List.
