Scott Smith is a 2007 RHP from Plantation HS in Plantation, FL, with a 6'0'', 180 lb. frame and good lower half strength. He throws with a multi-part delivery and some effort in his release that leaves him with balance issues. Smith has good natural arm strength and his fastball was 80-82 mph with good movement when it was down in the zone. Smith's delivery often left his pitches up. His breaking ball is a 71 mph slurve type breaking ball that he worked to the outside half well. Calming and smoothing out his delivery should provide immediate benefits to Smith's command and raw stuff, as he has good natural arm strength. Interestingly, Smith's hitting style mirrors his pitching style. He has some raw bat speed but has a full effort swing and pulls off the ball with his entire body at contact, robbing him of any chance at consistent contact.
