2006 Spring Top Prospect Showcase
Kevin Rotherham is a 2007 SS/P with a 6'2'', 188 lb. frame from Green Bay WI, who attends Notre Dame HS. He has a very nice athletic body with good present strength and wide shoulders for future strength gains. Rotherham has good speed and agility for his size. He ran the 60 in 6.84 and his foot work was smooth and balanced on defense. Rotherham had throw 3 innings the day before the showcase but he still showed nice carry on his throws from shortstop, along with smooth transfers. He could stay at shortstop or potentially move to third base depending on where he plays at the next level. Offensively, Rotherham has good bat speed and a quick, short swing. He gets to his front side early and is often off balance at the time of contact, which affects his extension and consistency. Rotherham showed some power and that should just blossom as he learns to stay back on the ball. Overall, Rotherham has very good upside and could be a nice sleeper from a small northern school. Keep a close eye on him. He is also a good student.
