Porter Thompson is a 2020 RHP/3B, OF with a 6-1 175 lb. frame from Asheville, NC who attends Christ High School. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and a projectable build with room to fill throughout moving forward. Primary righthanded pitcher, shows tempo to delivery with a high leg lift up past belt; gets tall on backside, strides slightly open coming down the mound with strike foot. Full arm action through the back working to a high three-quarters release point, shows quickness to arm and shows short running life to fastball, topped out at 82 mph. Occasionally gets mistimed with release. Tunnels curveball well and shows comfort landing the pitch for strikes, 11-5 shape with short depth and tight rotation up to 71 mph; flashed a changeup at 73 mph. Righthanded hitter, begins with a slightly open stance and a high hand set and back elbow in the box. Upper body dominant swing, keeps hands tight through swing and shows looseness to swing while repeating mechanics; can continue to implement additional shift through lower half, worked the middle and pull side parts of the field.
