Ryan Mattson is a 2018 C with a 5-11 160 lb. frame from Grand Haven, MI who attends Grand Haven HS. Medium frame with slender, athletic present build; very good projection remaining on frame. Ran 60 yard dash in 7.25 seconds. Sets up to hit from wide-based stance with high hand set, loads hands deep, gets on line drive swing plane with quick hands. Keeps path compact to the ball, looks to hit the ball on a line to all fields and was successful in doing so. Worked out defensively behind the plate, slight side set to start, gains ground out of crouch well, shows solid fundamental footwork, extended arm action in release with smoothness to stroke, threw 71 MPH to 2nd base and popped as low as 2.10 seconds. Good student.
