2003 South Top Prospect Showcase
At 6 foot 2 and 165 pounds, Mayberry is a projectable pitcher with a very good arm. He is a right-hander who showed some athleticism and a good working arm and a fast delivery. He has an attacker look to him and gets a big load with a large range of motion to his arm arc. His fastball was clocked between 80-83 mph and his curve was at 66-68 mph. The pitch with possibly the most effectiveness was the 73-75 mph change-up he showed last. It had a good tail and with good arm-speed. His body is thin and strong and we think he is just now gaining the strength and there is a lot more to come from him. He needs to be followed, could be a big surprise down the road.
