Josh Kaplan is a 2022 SS/RHP/2B with a 5-6 125 lb. frame from Suffern, NY who attends Suffern. Compact build with room to fill out. Ran a 7.69 second sixty-yard dash. Worked out defensively as a primary infielder. Displayed quick footwork working to and through the baseball in the infield. Flashed low out front funnels with clean glove actions. Displayed clean transfers into throws with good arm strength and accurate carry across the diamond topping out at 79 mph across the infield. Left handed hitter. Employs a straight stance with a high intent approach looking to drive the ball to and through the gaps in the outfield. Displayed good barrel control and bat speed creating consistently driven contact throughout batting practice. Also pitched at the event. Employs a clean, compact delivery with good tempo throughout. Flashed a short arm action leading to a high three-quarter arm slot with good arm speed. Features a fastball with some arm side run up to 78 mph complemented by a 11/5 breaking ball with shark break and good depth creating swing and miss. Showed good feel for the zone with both pitches. Great student.
