2018 Mid-Atlantic Prospect Showcase
Jesse Guerrero is a 2019 RHP/OF with a 5-5 130 lb. frame from Hamilton, NJ who attends Trenton Catholic Academy. Compact frame with a lean build. Frame projects to support additional strength. Primary right handed pitcher with a simple side step to medium leg lift delivery. Stays tall on back side at gather with coil over back leg. Works to the plate with drop and drive actions and lands in line with the plate. Loose arm circle at take back and released from a full three-quarters arm slot. Fastball displayed solid movement to each side of the plate in the low to upper 60's, topped at 70 miles per hour. Curveball had 11/5 shape with tighter spin and solid depth in the low 60's. Consistently moved the baseball to each edge of the plate while effectively changing speeds. Also worked out defensively from the outfield showing aggressive footwork while closing to the baseball. Maintains momentum while working through transfer and released from a three-quarters slot. Throws produced some on line carry to the bag at 70 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with a crouched, even stance and large leg lift trigger. Created some linear shift into contact with lower half. Clean hand path to baseball with a line drive barrel plane through extension. Showed solid feel for the barrel with good bat speed through the zone. Employed a mid field approach and generated consistent hard contact. Good student as well.
