Sammie Roberts is a 2018 2B/SS/RHP with a 6-0 170 lb. frame from Purcellville, VA who attends Loudoun Valley HS. Medium athletic build, plenty of room to get stronger. Right handed hitter, hits from a spread stance with a simple load and trigger, short downward swing plane, times up well and works the middle of the field with line drive contact, should continue to improve offensively as he gets stronger. 7.55 runner, has smooth and easy hands defensively, stays balanced and on his toes moving through the ball, arm is loose and should continue to get stronger, makes accurate throws. Also pitched, late hand separation with limited lower half use, compact arm stroke, high 3/4's arm slot, young mechanics. Threw lots of strikes with a mid-70's fastball, topped out at 77 mph, tended to slow arm noticeably on his curveball. Good student.
