Andres Mendez is a 2019 3B/UT with a 5-10 180 lb. frame from Hialeah, FL who attends City Of Hialeah Education Academy. Medium and physical frame with some present strength to the build. Ran a 7.47 second 60 yard dash. Primary third baseman who took reps in the infield, athletic movements to the baseball taking short strides to it, could gain more momentum to target for additional arm strength at release, funnels smoothly into body, developing arm strength. Also took reps in the outfield, fields the baseball to the side, could gain more ground into release, loose arm up to a low 3/4 arm slot, average arm strength up to 78 mph from the outfield. Switch hitter who only took reps from the right side, quick trigger into a powerful swing with a good combination of bat speed and strength, present juice off of the barrel that produces some carry, torques hips and gets the lower half involved, gets the barrel on plane well and finishes with good extension through contact. Great student.
