Trey Nixon is a 2017 LHP/1B with a 6-6 220 lb. frame from Council Bluffs, IA who attends Abraham Lincoln. Nixon has a large frame with long limbs, has present strength through out body. Smooth paced delivery, short rocker step to a high leg kick. Utilizes lower half well with good downplane on fastball that shows arm side run. Stays online to plate and gets out over front side from a mid 3/4 slot and finishes well. Has a loose arm action with developing arm speed Has a strong front side at landing. Curveball is developing and he used it often, showed 1/7 shape with downer depth. Maintained arm speed on curveball. Showed a rare change up that showed solid arm action later in his outing. Velocity projects. Hit from an upright stance, linear lower half with big weight transfer into swing. Has compact hands at load with good path and quickness to ball. Swings with a purpose with present bat speed. Has good bat path with lift. Defensively, smooth hands, fields in center of body, glove and feet work. Has accurate throws across diamond.
