Tyler Wood is a 2017 SS/ with a 5-8 165 lb. frame from Deerfield, IL who attends Deerfield. Medium frame with a lean, athletic build. Frame projects for additional strength throughout. Ran a 7.35 sixty yard dash. Primary shortstop with smooth, athletic footwork while surrounding the baseball. Clean glove actions while funneling the baseball and working through transfer. Solid arm strength from a mid three-quarters slot that produce on line carry across the infield, topped at 80 mph. Smooth actions while closing and working through slower roller as well. Left handed hitter with a slightly open stance. Drive into contact with linear lower half actions creating some shift. Quick, compact hands to contact that created a line drive plane through extension. Primarily worked the middle of the field throughout batting practice but flashed the ability to use the who field. Controls the barrel well throughout the zone with a mature presence. Good student. Named to 2016 Great Lakes Showcase Top Prospect List.
