Jayden Jacobs is a 2017 LHP/1B with a 5-10 175 lb. frame from Elizabeth, NJ who attends Elizabeth High School. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and present strength to frame, strong lower half. Ran a 7.85 60-yard dash. Primary lefthanded pitcher, begins with a big side step moving into a high leg lift up past belt, gets tall and gathers at top of delivery. Full and loose arm action through the back working to a side arm release point and occasionally dropped down lower. Creates angle on fastball as well as short running life, topped out at 72 mph and stays off barrels, induced steady weak ground ball contact. Maintained velocity nicely out of the stretch and filled strike zone. Mirrors arm slot on changeup, and shows some tumble to it at 66 mph. Repeats delivery, shows tight rotation to slider with sweeping life, can locate to either side of the plate with the pitch. Mixed three pitches and kept hitters off balance. Similar arm action at first base, fields the ball out front, overall footwork will continue to develop, moved well charging in. Lefthanded hitter, begins with an upright stance and weight on backside in the box. Upper body dominant swing, front side goes early and shows a line drive swing path through the zone. Long follow through after the point of contact, inside path with a pull side approach.
